I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

OMG, if it weren't for the colours I would consider this little avian a miniature bald eagle. Cool photo of a bird I'd never heard of or had seen before prior to Rob's posting, Carin.

How fascinating! Birds are so different everywhere, and this is astonishing. So drab up top, and so brilliant underneath, and the head seems to be from quite a different sort of bird altogether. You know, that odd coloring can be camo, although I don't know if that's the case with this one. Looking down on the bird from above, it would blend in with the landscape. Looking up at it from below, it would blend with your brilliant South African sky. Interesting to think about, isn't it? Great capture!

AW! That is a strange looking bird, though very beautiful. It seeme like its head is way too big for its body and I could imagine it tilting forward while flying lol ! Such an excellent capture Carin :-)
