as an anthropologist, i find this most interesting...poor fella was probably buried in a hemp sack. clearly it was a very shallow grave and animal activity is evident since the bones are disarticulated--in the left hand side of the photo is a scapula (shoulder blade) and the position of the skull is most unusual. surprised that someone hasn't walked off with his skull...super capture--post more of these if you have them ;)

A sad reminder of the inhumanity suffered by black people.

Aïe AÏe...my head ! Whete is my head ! Very original shot !

My suspicions are a shallow grave possibly indicating a greater likelihood that the deceased was black. The rest of the bones were possibly removed by souvenir hunters, and the skull will likely be gone soon as well.

Your find seems to be in rather good condition. Seems not to be the worst investment, bying old private graveyards and getting 1000 bucks for doing nothing.

great shot, i suppose it's a relatively 'fresh' skull. We don't have cemeteries rgar show bones, private or otherwise, unless one wants to see old cemeteries with bones and mummies, like in Indian Jones (2 or 3), which showed old mummies fromn an Italian monastery. In our church isn't uncommon having relics of saints and martyrs shown.
