Description

I have been on a short walk-about before the holiday season really gets underway. Mostly I have stayed local, and this image was taken in Luxulyan Valley. This beauty is, without doubt, the largest Dragonfly I have ever seen, dwarfing another of the same species which was flying nearby, an image of which I shall later post. I watched as it chased a bumble bee, caught it and landed right in front of me, where it proceeded to devour the poor bee. I am just thankful that insects don't have any nociceptors so don't feel pain. One of lifes small mercies, I guess. If you zoom in, you will clearly be able to see the bee. Thank you for taking the time to look

What a fabulous pic of this Golden-ringed Dragonfly, Carpathia! Stunning to see them in action! I haven't had the fortune to see one of these here, so thankyou!!
