Description

As I mentioned, Harmony, Ca has become an artist enclave. One of Mrs Sea_Dog's favorite studios was the glassworks. There is usually at least one glass artist at work and we always enjoyed watching these amazing artists create wonderful items. I was glad to see the glassworks was still going strong and had actually expanded. This image is a small sampling of their beautiful work. Funny story: When I asked the artists if I could take some pictures they were so appreciative, it was like I was doing them a favor. Across the street behind the Creamery there is a ceramic and pottery shot and the lady there absolutely forbade me from taking any shots. The entire time I was browsing she positioned herself to keep an eye on me as if I was going to steal a shot somehow. Anyway enjoy the beautiful glasswork.

I had a similar experience in a shop this woman acted like I was a spy from another country it was pretty amusing to watch her watching me... mostly though people seem to be flattered when you take photos inside their shops if their shops or merchandise wasn't interesting why would we be wanting to take photos of it, they should be flattered.. Love the shots of you and Mrs. Seadogs travels....

This is gorgeous! Those colors just pop off of the screen. I love all of the details and the textures, and this takes me back to my life in Prague where I was surrounded by so much glass I stopped seeing it! The story about the artists being appreciative of your photographic interest in their work is quite touching, especially since it seems to heartfelt; it's a refreshing contrast to the woman who defensively forbade photography. Ah, but maybe she's a throwback to the Communist era, when photography of shops and such was forbidden, because one never knew if one was actually photographing a KGB nest or something--the KGB was certainly not gonna tell you and so it was just safer to forbid photography in general...but I somehow doubt that woman's story is so full of political and international intrigue. This is a great shot though, and your use of color and light is simply wonderful!
