Description

North of San Simeon California Hwy 1 hugs the coast for miles and miles. There are few signs of man except fences here and there. You begin to think civilization has disappeared. Then you round a curve and Ragged Point comes into view. Here you can find a place to stay, fuel for your car, rest rooms, a snack bar and a nice restaurant. To me the highlight of Ragged Point is a 1/2 mile loop trail that affords the most wonderful views north and south along the coast. There is also a trail that goes down to the beach ( so I've been told - it's been closed the last two times I've stopped here) When I got to Ragged Pt I was a little disappointed - thick fog blanketed the entire area. But, I was hungry and thristy so I decided to stay long enough to have a sandwich and a drink and listen to some local musicians playing on the patio by the snack bar. It was an excellent choice - by the time I'd finished my snack the fog had lifted and the views - well this image shows what the views were like. Enjoy

This is a stunning shot, one of those once-in-a-lifetime shots one gets on occasion. Oh, you can go to that spot again, take numerous photos that are as stunning and fantastic as this one, but there's no way to replicate what's here: the perfect conjunction of time and timing and this is absolutely gorgeous!
