Description
This little guy came to live out behind my barn last year I seen him fairly often through the summer but not at all last winter, he was back again this spring and has been known to get on top of the barn from time to time. I haven’t seen him up there myself but the neighbors have told me about it. He’s really became more friendly this year than last, last year he would set up by the barn and watch me work in the yard, this year he’s in the yard more and more. I haven’t seen his mate this year, hope nothing has happened to her. Last Saturday I looked out of the kitchen window and there he was setting on the patio. Grabbed my camera and opened the back door he turned and looked at me, when I stepped out on the porch he walked out by the shop in no particular hurry then set down to watch me I took several shots before he became bored of the process and went to check out something behind the shop and then back up to the barn. I thing he’s a handsome little guy and hope he decides to live behind my barn for a long time. From time to time I put something out for him to eat but I don’t want to do that very often I don’t want him to rely on being feed and not hunt for his food. Maybe slipping him a treat every now and then won’t hurt, ya think.

What big ears you have, grandma! Cool capture of the demure little fellow! Love that tail. He may think that if he acts humble and patient enough that you will feel sorry for him and toss out a chicken or two.

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here (UK) these little guys get a rough ride. Their lifespan averages at just 18 months, and most of their food, contrary to public thinking, generally consists of insects. Desperation only would entice these creatures to venture too close to us or anywhere near a chicken run. I regularly feed my two simply because without it, they definitely would perish. This image is just beautiful. Kudos to you for caring about these animals. ^=^
