My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

We have a tree like this in our front yard and this year the "helicopters" were especially a vivid red. A beautiful picture.

Back in New England as a boy we would gather helicopters by the hand full, then climb the tree to launch!! ;~) Sensational color!!!

Oh I love these! I can watch for hours when they start falling and do their helicopter tricks!!! Great image Dierbaar and lovely dreamy postwork!

I've always seen the dried up results of these seed pods on the ground. This is so neat to see them pre-launch...fastened together and getting ready to do their thing. Excellent postwork bringing out the true colors:)

Okay, count me among those who thought they were at the air show...! Our ones tend to be only green, Clive

My ever hyperactive juke box brain just started playing Soul Coughing's "Unmarked Helicopters". I'm so suggestible. Everybody must call these things helicopters as everywhere I've ever lived that's what they're refered to as. It's interesting to see them in their larval state. Great shot!
Chipka
Helicopters. A universal name! We call them that here, but in Chicago we don't get the extravagant red ones as much. They're nice anyway, just not as red. This is a gorgeous shot...visually poetic in all of the right ways and it's just downright pretty! I love the papery sound they make when they've fallen and a gentle breeze stirs them...the sound is almost water-like, which reminds me of "tea from an empty cup" which is one of those incredibly Japanese things I enjoy...this shot rocks!

Very cool, Tara! I've never seen red ones, but we used to play with those things for hours back in the day! Really cheap toys!! LOL!

Stems and seeds again, eh? At least these are legal LOL.
MrsRatbag
I love the roundness of the seeds in these; you got a great capture of their beauty!
