Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

This is just so amazing to see. I showed it to my husband and told him we need to get busy and get our trip to Hawaii planned so I can see this in person. I may not go as close as you do though.

Mate I would love to join you on a hike! Do you take a tripod too for shots like this?

The shot reminds me of Paul Simon's lyrics "...the Mississippi Delta was shinin' like a national guitar..." And that's what it looks like from high above. I do see a sort of guitar in your image. So maybe this can be...the Pali Lava Delta was shinin' like a national guitar..."

I can only try to imagine the humbling power of these flows. This is something I would love to see but sadly there are not that many active volcanoes in the middle of England.

blinkings...Altho a tripod would have been better, I used a monopod on this shot. Sometimes moving around in the dark on the uneven lava rocks can be a challenge. And yet there are times when a tripod is a must especially the far away shots. Thanks for asking

I thought you were going to tell us you left your camera on a rock and the lava surrounded it and you had to swing on a rope to save it - lol... hopefully that never has to happen - you're lucky someone didn't walk off with your camera - lol... and, I hope you didn't have anything on your camera that could be use against you like nude pictures - lol you got lucky you got your camera back = lol ...oh, super shot too!
