Description

I WANT YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE 2012 STORY A far more apocalyptic view of the year 2012 has also spread in various media. This view has been promulgated by History Channel with the series Decoding the Past (2005–2007), and its segment on the Mayan calendar, based loosely on John Major Jenkins' theories. However, Jenkins has berated the fact that a science fiction writer co-authored the documentary and went on to characterize it as "45 minutes of unabashed doomsday hype and the worst kind of inane sensationalism". The show proved popular and was followed by many sequels: 2012, End of Days (2006), Last Days on Earth (2006), Seven Signs of the Apocalypse (2007), and Nostradamus 2012 (2008). Discovery Channel also aired 2012 Apocalypse in 2009, suggesting that massive solar storms, magnetic pole reversal, earthquakes, supervolcanoes, and other drastic natural events may occur in 2012. Evangelical Christian minister John Hagee has also suggested in his book Can America Survive? 10 Prophetic Signs That We Are The Terminal Generation that Earth may suffer a doomsday scenario on 12/12/12 (December 12, 2012). Thanks Magik

I think people read into past documents and prophecies what they want to find. They find a strange sort of comfort in future catastrophes being foretold and the end being definite and laid out. They find fear in the idea that the future is unknown. I have read and seen many stories of catastrophes that could effect our planet, not because of a god's anger or other super natural powers, but because the planet is fragile and we are poor stewards of it. I think we should spend our time and energy while we are here on helping the people around us and our planet. I won't besmirch my comment with what I think of John Hagee. Your image is beautiful and very well done! Lovely textures!

A marvelous work, and an interesting topic. We have been through dozens of doomsdays, and so far they were all bull crap. Nostrodamus has supposedly predicted some, other civilization's priests have predicted some, and some pastors and priests in our time have predicted the end days, and nothing. Maybe this one will be, and maybe it won't. Sooner or later there will be an end, if not by Nature's forces, or some collision with an asteroid, then by our own hands. In any case, there will be nothing we can do but continue to live each day and do good as we go along. If it is the end .. then it is. If it's not the end, then things will continue until the end. Personally, I think we will destroy ourselves with all the chemicals, diseases and pollutants we create.
