Description
I like the Latin name for this butterfly so much more than the English. Wall Brown, frankly, sounds more like a pot of paint!
Not that I'm actually certain I've even got the right name! There are so many variations on a theme where these lads and lassies are concerned. Leastways, that's my excuse. You are most welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. ^=^
I was going to crop this quite a bit, but bowed to my #1 daughter who said that in her opinion it was better left as is. Who am I to argue with my girl! ^=^
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

She was right! EXCELLENT!! Yes, 'Wall Brown' sounds like one of the National Trust or English Heritage colours.

Sorry to disagree but according to my book it is a Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria). Never the less a beautiful shot.

There are many flamboyant butterflies in this world, but I have to say it is this one and others like it that get my attention faster. I love the big, rounded wings with the simple but bold markings. Exceptional capture.
