Description

A cluster of new stars is being born inside a cloud of dust and gas, and now the energies of these exuberant youths is blasting the remaining nebula away to eventually reveal a cluster of large hot young stars. What can you say about kids? They don't know when to turn it down! Once again I'm playing in Photoshop, I don't have time to really tackle my space ships and such, so this will have to soothe my creative impulses. In all, 47 layers of clouds, lens flares, several other filters, and a couple of heavily-modified layers of "Glitterato" generated stars. Glitterato is a filter from Flaming Pear software which is pretty good, but tends to make the stars much to evenly distributed and the edges are too hard. So I throw another layer of the random-cloud filter over it, set to multiply which gives wonderful veins and rivers to the star pattern. The lensflare effect on them is done with 3 additional layers: motionblur left (usually 15-20 pixels), motionblur up (same distance), gausian blur at 3-5 pixels and all three are set to screen over the top of my starfield. It works great for making the stronger stars have the lens flare, while the weaker ones don't show as well.

Very cool! You must do something else (stars made real lens flare?) to get the effect on the biggest stars in that image.

Beautifully done, and very realistic looking space scene - I love it! Wow - 47 layers! And I thought I was over the top with 26 layers..... LOL! Beautiful work!
