Description

Before "Humanity's First Interstellar War" there was something of a race, as those nations who had access, and the means to take advantage of such access rushed to establish their claim to the nearby star systems, and any valuable resources they could locate along the way. This often meant that any type of ship that could be used would find itself pressed into service hauling cargo or passengers (more often both) to some far-flung outpost. They also intensified the use of inflatable habitats for quick-setup times in order to establish a presence that would then be expanded into a more permanent setup. Here a ship originally meant for in-system short range travel finds itself returning from a grueling service-run to a relatively new station. In the background a couple of additional ships also have found themselves on longer missions than originally intended, but the race was on and nobody was yet willing to even consider admitting they weren't up to the challenge, yet. --------------- I'm re-using models from earlier efforts, along with a new station-model. I'll be giving that one the featured-presentation when I have it a little more ready for prime-time. In the meantime, I'm at last finding my inspiration for SciFi action once again and hope to do more in the near future. As always, the models are entirely my own, most of the textures as well, ships and station all done in Bryce 6, while the planet, starfield, compositing and post working all were done in Photoshop cs3. Thanks for taking a look, and suggestions/critiques/requests are most welcome.

Interesting and original. You obviously have a flair for spaceships. If you lived in the future you could make your living as a space yacht designer! :)

Ah, superb stuff! You know, if nations on Earth manage to get their acts together and actually get out of the Earth/Luna gravitational basin and do something out there, it'll play havoc with national borders--which as Humans, we're gonna probably take with us! It'll be interesting to see how Earth's nations navigate the tricky terrain of national borders that are constantly moving in their orbits and occasionally intersecting or otherwise interacting in odd gravitational ways. Hmm...there's a story in there somewhere: full of intrigue, sabotage, and really weird dynamics, both physical and social. I love it when you get my brain to working, especially when you do so with great artwork. Yeah, this rocks!

Absolutely fantastic artwork! your space scenes really do rock - I agree with chipka. I can see this happening someday, but I hope we don't take our corporate greed and environmental destructiveness to other worlds. We may end up getting our butts handed to us like in Avatar.
