Description

This is part of the frame that connects to the top at the crossbar and directly supports the seat. Look closely at the rust. Isn't it amazing how thick it is? There are barnacles and other unidentified sea life trapped in there. These bikes had been in the water in a tidal river zone near the mouth of the Snohomish. For you inland dwellers, that means salt and fresh water flow back and forth on a regular basis. Sometimes that area is more salt and sometimes it's more fresh, depending upon whether the tide is going in or out.

No, you are mistaken. This must be the surface of some alien planet. The textures and shapes and colors are amazing. Surprising what you can find if you really look.

A+++ I saw rusty bikes. You saw textured bits, parts and pieces. Like the way you've postworked this to cause the encrusted frame to pop all the more.

That's a really impressive macro, Tara! From the look of it, that bike was in the water for a long time! Excellent!

This is super! The more I see of this bike, the more I can imagine that there IS a land-living species of coral...which is odd since I managed to spend time with Corey today and we watched an X-Files episode that happened to deal with a carnivorous fungus: we're talking man-eating mushrooms! This has nothing to do with puffballs that are all a part of a massive, underground fungus structure, but it does recall the thought that things may not always be what they seem, and that this bike is in the process of forming a terrestrial coral reef! And on top of that, it's gorgeous! I love the lumps and dips, the swirly bits and the implications that other stuff is down under that rust! Nice. Very nice! Amazing!
