Description

Gary's house is gone. It started somewhere between 3am and 4am. Some strong methane gas explosions beneath and around his house. Some house battery's explosion went off with a bang too. His water catchment system was still holding but I'm pretty sure it will start sizzling steam soon. The lava is very fluid and moving like a river along side the coast and behind of Gary's house. Looks like another house is in its path. Aloha and thank you for viewing...

I am really sorry to read this but I'm thankful that Gary is safe and that he had made peace with the situation. This is an amazing shot to see how the lava has surrounded the home. Those of us on the mainland have no real concept of all of this and your photos make it very real.

What an experience he must have had. But, with all the ALOHA in Hawaii, I am sure he will be okay. Great shot. Aloha

What a startling series of pictures and events...thanks for taking us along with you to see what has been happening. Best of luck to Gary...must be a tough experience but one that happens when you live near an active volcano.

I'm speechless. I'm...I'm awed. I'm so sad and don't know what to do about it...nothing to do but say, "oh well..." But even that won't come out. What a fabulous shot, though. Wow...

This has been an amazing story. I'm glad Gary is okay and that he got the things he wanted out of the house before it was engulfed.

You have allowed us to share in this whole process with your fotos. It's a sad story for sure, but also the story of how nature rules. Give Gary my best and tell him aloha.

Sad news but Gary lives on and hopefully can rebuild and get on with life and be happy again. How many people can say later in life that their house was destroyed by lava?

So sad... I felt as soon as you mentioned it for some reason it was going to happen - what a shame - at least he was able to move what he wanted/needed... My Wife lost everything in a fire back in dec 2002 - her fire was actually why we met. ...back to the lava... can you upload sometime a map of Hawaii and show us where the Volcanic activity is? a line pointing to where Gary's house was would help.... so sorry - thanks for the picture though, turned out good.

Gary must be a real stoic and pragmatist. A remarkable real life story.

What will be, will be! Not to say I'm not sorry for Gary. Just how one goes about making peace with the powers that be!
