Description

Another view of Gary's house. You can see the lava underneath. Every now and then, you would see a flare up of the vegetation in the background. Aloha and thank you for viewing

It makes me so sad to see Gary's home in this state. I am glad he has made peace. I wish him all the luck in the world in starting over. Not an easy thing to do. Your shot is wonderful, dear Errol. Please give Gary my best wishes. Aloha and hugs. Diane. xx

How very incredible. I've dealt with earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and fires but volcanoes... incredible...

thanks for the shots... better make Gary some copies while you're at it for his insurance - sad look of reality.

I love Hawaii, but do not live there (business reasons). When my wife and I looked at homes, we were constantly reminded that in many instances, this could happen. Lava can eat your house. My best wishes to your friend for starting anew. This is what the islands are all about: starting afresh, new growth, vibrancy. Also, many thanks for documenting this story. Your photographs claim attention, and those of lava bring back warm (literally) memories of walking lava fields. Perhaps you can document an addendum to this photo-story: Gary rebuilding a house, starting anew. Sort of close the circle, happily, and end the story.

Such is life, living near a volcano. After all it's just a dwelling, Gary has the ability to start anew. Great POV of what's left of the house and the flow behind.
