Description
hello to all! thanks for stopping by and viewing my work. i really appreciate the you taking the time to view it, and i appreciate comments and feedback even more. they definitely help me learn and grow.
there's only a few more left to the backlog that i'll post. this one is almost 2 whole years old, and shows i really need to try harder on follow-through. i thought it would be a good idea to do at least one plain image showing off things i bought after i bought them. so even if i never did what i planned to with them, i'd have that initial render. and if i did, i'd know better how to work with them. unfortunately, this is the only one i did. i'm planning to resurrect that idea, but we'll see how it plays out.
i'm hoping to hit at least some of the more obscure parts of my runtime.
the dress is the dynamic 30's dress set by tabala, and is better than this image makes it look. i decided to try to make a really 20's looking type, with a long boyish build. the dress hung on her frame like it would in real life. i used it in a subsequent image where i sculpted the dress to fit her. i've just recently found some better ways to fit dynamic clothes to smaller proportions. so i haven't been _completely_ useless in the intervening time. ;D
the marble is a procedural marble i made, the skin is Vanessa by Maelwenn with VSS PR2 by bagginsbill and customized by me. underneath the painting is SuperBob by outoftouch and Bice, with texture and shader by me (hooray flat mapping!). i can't remember the source of the dress material, though i know i gamma corrected it by hand. the stupid and awful looking nailpolish is completely my fault.

image reminds me of what I say go on on the red carpet... dirth gets all over the bottem of these expensive dresses, the concrete tears them up as if they are sand paper -lol... sure the dresses and beautiful, but expensive and you gotta take'm to the tailer.

I like the composition--that splash of blue in all the white. I have this dress..somewhere! I don't think I have ever rendered it, and alas I have a lot of models like that. You remind me that I too should take a flashlight and see what I have stored down there. As for the blue nail polish--it just looks like that;) It's not you!

Inspires a real wicked desire to really get my head around dynamics, m... there is just so much that conforming doesn't do. The royal blue is stunning, almost luminescent. I wish I could see a bit more fold detail, but the lighting is so appropriate for her look, it doesn't matter... the effect is nicely retro, right down to her pose and the marble pillar. Not sure if you are doing this, but bringing up old pz3s and re-doing them with what we've learned is really quite interesting, isn't it?

Despite your misgivings about the dress, I think the dynamics turned out well. The material looks weighty and velvety instead of light and cottony. I also really like the 1920's look you gave the character.
