Description

I like the somewhat-otherworldly quality to this shot; it seems to exist in a sort of dream space between wakefulness and sleep: also between the watery reflection of the tree and the sidewalk beneath. This picture was made in the Beverly Hills neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago in late October of 2009.

I do love the dreamy, otherwordly effect this foto has. The lines between the reflecftions and the tree are blurred --the way our dreams are. Wonderful!!

You know, I was wondering when you were gonna post this, but I thought that you took this when you lived with Andrea. Hmmm...maybe you've taken more than one reflection shot! At any rate, I love this. It's quite moody, actually...not sinister or dark, just rich with all sorts of not-exactly overt emotions, a bit like a landscape that evokes an emotional response by doing little more than showing you a tree, or a cloud over a tree, or a tree next to a rock under a cloud...something simple, something not emotional in and of itself, but really intense in the way it's put together. Well...that's how I see this and I like it a lot.

I think it's an Ent admiring itself in the puddle!

Your title brings a couple of other titles to mind...When Worlds Collide and War of the Worlds. But that aside, like your creative vision and composition. If you hadn't seen this...you'd have missed a great opportunity.

very intriguing, it reminds me of poor Ophelia in a print possibly by Mucha or anothe fin de siecle artist. Great shot

I love the reflection, and the fact that you can still see the sidewalk. Cool stuff!

When I first saw this, I thought the sidewalk seen through the water was reflected clouds. But I saw that they were on the tree trunk so that wasn't right. Then I read your words and the light flashed on. I love the dreamy quality, the sharp detail of the chain, the same sharpness of the branches added with the rippling effect of the water, and the irregular line of the uneven sidewalk. I like this a lot!
