Description

Imagine my surprise coming across this one day as I was driving towards the Smoky Mountains. This is a new attraction that has opened in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It is quite an impressive museum to visit. A couple of things that were quite interesting to me were, they have built a replica of the original grand stair case of the Titanic and the cost of building that alone cost more today then it cost to build the entire original ship, also when you first arrive you are handed a boarding pass with a name of a former passenger with a short biography on it, and at the end of the tour there is a wall with the names engraved of those that survived the disaster and then those that didn't. The name on my boarding pass was Mary Hewlitt and she was from Lucknow, India and traveling to go see her son in South Dakota she was along the 706 survivors of the original 2,223 passenger and crew aboard the Titanic that went down at sea on April 10th, 1912. This photo was taken outside the museum, as no cameras are allowed inside the attraction. Oh I forgot to mention the best part I got to tour this with one the members here, thanks Michael I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Terrific POV in play here depicting the grand Titanic's encounter with the iceberg, that sliced the liner's side open like a can opener, Lynell! I think I can even see Leonard DiCaprio and Kate Winslet up there. Excellent shot!

history of this ship is stil comeing to light as i watch it on the history channel. I even read some of the most wild stuff that happen there that we do not hear about. . Like one of the officers who was been drag down with the ship and he went into one of the hugh smoke chimmys and the boiler blow up and out the chimmy the blast came senting the office back to the surface of the water where one of the liveboats drag him him for he was so close to it. you do not hear this but it happened and he reporded it to congress. wonderful shot and happy you got someone that lived to go and see her son

That sounds like a cool visit! My favorite local museum stopped allowing cameras, last time I ever visited, several local attractions don't allow cameras either. Thanks for sharing, I found story quite interesting!!
