Description

hello to all and thanks for stopping by! i appreciate the time you take to view my work. i doubly appreciate those who take the time to comment. this is one of the last of my backlog. there are still lots and lots of unfinished pieces that might still appear from time to time, but those i haven't been able to figure out well enough to finish for various reasons. given my present tendency to spend more time than i want to figuring stuff out, they'll probably be appearing. to give some background, this uses Surreality's Okami maiden. i'm not sure why it was used for an Asian character with all these freckles. it doesn't have much burned in specular, though, which is great. the bump is based on the diffuse, which is not great but by far the most common practice. the skin shader is my adjustment of bagginsbill's VSS PR2, and the lighting used his GenIBL. the hair is Kozaburo's Long Hair Evolution, with my own texture and material. it's my own custom morph with Morphs++, and a good deal of painting to make up for Poser's lack of SSS, caustics, and good raytraced shadows. i was going for a sort of average Scandinavian girl look. the eyes are deepblue's Eye Maps: Generation 4 at DAZ. it's a very good set, but i've given up on the eyes that come with most figures. i just made a set of textures and materials for bagginsbill's BBEyes, and i'll be using those from now on. i'm also making a tutorial for my catsuit, experimenting with different topologies for dynamic circular skirts, and generally figuring some stuff out about modeling and the Cloth Room. so i hope you enjoy this. i'm running out of finished works, and i don't know how quickly i'll be able to make new ones. wish me luck!

The eyebrows?? They are awesome! Hand-made? Your creativity is wonderfully prodigeous and distinctively unique. Is hair shader in Mix? So many questions, so much admiration!

I love "average" Poser characters. And are those dynamic eyebrows or painted brows? You've done wonderful things with shaders and painted effects. Thanks for continuing to inspire me. Looking forward to your tutorial.

I too like the morph and light setup but the eye textures do let you down eventually. You may have to customize all your textures.. I sense a twist and flattening in focal like it is set a bit too high and the hair (her right) seems worked really hard and draws a lot of attention,, like a knot. I'm sure you worked hard on this.. My eyes are drawn to the nose shadow area. This is pleasing because of the complex lighting you achieved there.. It has a good feeling.. which is why I wrote all this ,, I guess..;)

My favorite is the eyebrows--light eyebrows are such a challenge--they tend to disappear in rendering, but here they are wonderful and distinct! As for eye textures, I can get some superb irises from Addy and gypsyangel, but the whites are the problem--Poser doesn't shade them correctly for the translucency real eyewhites have, not does it accurately show the slightly bumpy texture and shine, and it tends to filter away the vein detail. Other 3d programs do much better, but I still love the speed of the Poser render engine, with all it's flaws.

I do too love her eyebrows. Are they transmapped? I know believable light brows are hard to achieve, and yours are best I've seen in ages. Same goes with pale characters - they are difficult - yet you made really great job! I like her face. Especially her nose, and smile you gave her. Very natural, very real. Good luck with you experiments with cloth room. Hope you post their results :)

I must have missed this when I first looked through your gallery. One of my favs by you. Lighting is great. I particularly like the shadows and the eyebrows are very realistic and unique. I'd really like to see more "everyday people" portrait work from you in the future too.
