Description

The top of Yosemite Falls--this really shows you how granite makes this park what it is. I just finished a book set in Yosemite. Among other things, it talked about how the park can close in on you when it's cloudy and gray; how the wall of granite become oppressive. I've never seen it this way, but I can understand how it could be possible. All I know for sure it is truly an astonishing place.

Great shot. I can remember shooting this and having to wrap my old camera in a plastic bag. The mist from the falls was soaking everything in sight!

I have never felt penned in, either, but rather caressed by the beauty, whether or not it was the granite. ;o) Excellent image. That top of the fall is way up there.

Stellar capture of the roughly textured and imposing top of Yosemite Falls, M. It looks so antediluvian.

Fabulous pov, and a great shot! I don't know that I'd feel penned in. Probably more cocooned than closed in, but I'm weird that way.

Amazing! I love the craggly granite! The sense of scale is truly impressive and I love the sharpness and clarity! Well seen...and I'm kind of interested in granite quite a bit now, since there's apparently granite on Venus, which is impossible unless--way back when--Venus was more like Earth in its development. How weird is that? Earth's twin turned into a superheated ball swaddled in greenhouse gasses and clouds of Sulfuric acid? That has nothing to do with this shot, but it's what popped into my mind, maybe because I can look at this picture and imagine something similar on another planet billions of years ago. I love it when connections like that get made, no matter how goofy they may be on the surface. This is great work...really inspiring too!

Very rugged look at this POV. I’m with you! If I were a park ranger, I would be here in the summer and the Florida Everglades in the winter. Dana
