Description
For all Fae Lovers - but in particular to Ian (2121) and Roxy (Brewgirlca) -- to great artists, and valued friends :-)
Let it never be said there aren't enough lovely Fae to go around, particularly in the realm of Twilight Meadows.
Called out of their summer dens and glades from all over the magic realm to celebrate the changing of the seasons and to celebrate their own rituals of life renewal and beginning.
The Faes of the Meadows congregate to sing, dance, laugh, imbibe elderberry wine and sweet honey mead long into the night until the sun rises anew and the Dawn Sprites begin their work.
Now is a particularly magical time as the male Faes have returned from their long absence in the Meadows. They have been abroad, studing under the guidance of their Elvin kin, honing their unique forms of magic, animal husbandry, arts, or whatever skill they have shown a particular affinity or aptitude for. Perfecting their skills that they might woo and win the heart of a lady Fae to become their mate.
Displays ranging from taming the wild dragonfly's and making rare moon roses bloom, are meant to impress a potential mate and are a delight for all who witness these displays. Some will be fortunate and forge a bond with a lady Fae to become her bound mate. Others will have to wait another season to find romance and bonds that will last a lifetime.
Nehirr was one of those whose gifts were not, initially at any rate, well received by any of the ladies he put on a performance for. So, disheartened, he made his way to a sheltered corner of the Meadows and went back to practice. So absorbed in his tasks was he that he hadn't taken note that he was being watched. Isetair, a princess of the Dusk Fae had seen his display of magic from afar and was impressed.
She had watched him be casually cast aside by the ladies he courted and followed him when he departed the stone circle of the Faerie Light to give him encouragement, and, perhaps, see that lovely smile he had tried to grace Akante with when she snubbed him.
Taking a seat on a small stone arch, she watched him manipulate magic, particles of pollen from the Starwood Trees and Moonblossoms. Playing with the very element of the Light Spark that inbued all Fae life with it's majik. A rate talent indeed!
She softly chuckled to one of his displays, warranting his attention and that smile. With a grateful nod of appreciation, and a coy, encouraging wink from her, he resumed his display in a solo show for her alone.
When that night fell, they would be bound as mates eternal and the Dusk Crown would be placed upon his head, the lovely Isetair as his bride....and Akante? She ended up without a mate...for the third season.
Learning, the hard way, it doesn't pay to be picky.

Amazing work on two fronts my love. First of all, your image is spectacular! Love the characters and poses, your magic effects work is simply stunning! And second, your story is amazing! It seems both completely new to me but the world you created seems to have a rich history to it as if this fae realm has existed for a long time. Excellent work!

I love this story. It is truely the work of someone who can see a potential diamond while others see only a lump of coal. How many potentially great people have we lost in this world because they do not fit with societies norms, and in our society, normallacy is often more valued than being gifted or talented. You bring to life a generous spirit who could see past the darkness of the lump of coal and see the true diamond shining within.

fave'd ... Beautiful wings, iridescent talents, and a captivated audience. All of these are appealing, along with an inventive story. I especially like how this couple is physically well-matched, neither {ahem!} overly-developed, and both showing how they're clearly intrigued by each other.

Sigh. You've just so pulled me into this image with it's story. An excellent lesson on thinking too highly of oneself, grins, and ending up all alone. There are always those who can see the pearl cast aside because their eyes see outwards, and are not always focused inwards. A beautiful image, so well posed, composed, lighted and backdropped. Beautiful, just beautiful .. and what a fabulous story!
