Description

This image is dedicated to all the lovers of paper books, like myself, that haven't (yet) surrendered to the lures of the iPads and similar devices. To tell the truth, within my soul two warriors are battling: the old-fashioned papery warrior and the electronic novelties fan, ready to get in love with the last e-fashion, at a reasonable price. In fact, you'll never see me in a line in front of a shop to be one of the first to buy a gadget. The place in the photo is the 'piano nobile', the 'noble floor' of the 18th century building I have already spoken of. The double doors on the right lead to the staircase and the ground floor hall with the gate to the street and the one to the walled garden. This salon runs along all the building length, leading to a number of rooms, and it was used, in my opinion, to receive a great number of guests or as a dance hall, before it was bequeathed to the Church, of course. Currently the building is used for university students. The girl who is reading is enjoying a bright, sunny day in the veranda that looks out over the walled garden to the rear. The colored fabrics on the wall are part of a series of art installations made by the students. Though modern, they don't disturb the elegance of the salon, but the two stoves and the red fire stuff do. Unfortunately the bishop, generally speaking, doesn't care about architectural harmony, and chose the cheapest solution to heating and safety. Thank you for your kind comments.

A wonderful place to read and the artwork over the glass doors and the arches on the right more than compensate for the fire alarm. Great catch. Dana
