Description

I've often seen how people behave more like lonely units than a mass. These two people were lonely readers in the flux of space-time, sharing the same place (Rome), time (noon), and interest (classic archaeology), and age but nothing else. They never looked at each other, never tried whether they might communicate in some lingua franca or pidgin English or watched the same old stones at the same time. They didn't look at me taking a shot of them, either. They made me think of the title on one of my favorite writers' novel, Islands in the Stream by Hemingway. I dedicate this image to Mark (anahata.c) whose comments are a feast to read. He's recovering from serious illness and gracing us with his profound insights again. Thanks for your kind comments.

Stellar work Sandra! The tree in the forground acts as a physical barrier dividing one large picture into two fantastic images. Each one could stand on its own. Together they complete the mood of two people in their own separate worlds.
