Description

Just because this butterfly has a small curved white mark on the hind wing resembling a comma, that's it's name! Wouldn't you think, with all the other beautiful stuff going on within it's small form, they could have come up with something slightly more original than that? I mean, for goodness sake! What, I wonder, would it have been named had that white shape been sausage shaped? Chippolata? ....at best! Okay then. Next time a new species of this beautiful flying wonder is discovered, perhaps a more imaginative name can be found. Just a thought... {^=^} I came across him/her (someone will know), yesterday down the valley. He/she was parked on this log for an age, taking in the warmth of the sunshine, digesting nectar, I should imagine. Hence my actually being able to snap it. Still not the best image, but it was a couple of metres away. If my hands actually worked properly, I'd be very tempted to go back to my 35mm with zoom lense. ^=^ I was quite surprised to read that a century ago, the Comma was unknown in Britain. I for one, am glad it arrived! ^=^ Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^
