Description
Firstly thanks for the feedback on the Pumpkin model.
Secondly, I've not been able to do much with the model this week as I've been knocked down with 'Man Flu' :) Seeing as I'm feeling a little better tonight I thought it was time to start UV Mapping the model and testing some textures out.
The stem proved to be a complete PITA to UV Map, bearing in mind I'm new to UV Mapping and have so much to learn it's unreal. But basically I couldn't get it to unwrap into a clean enough map that didn't cause too much distortion. So I ended up creating a seam and using a flat projection and then relaxing the map using the LSCM function cutting on the edge I had created. This turned out a clean map but still left me with much distortion around the base of the stem. So stumped I thought, what the hell do I do?
Then ensued a good hour of point and poly moving on the UV Map to turn out a clean enough map with little distortion. It's by no means perfect as I'm learning but it was bloody hard work let me tell you. Suicide crossed my mind many a time *lol*
So yes, Steam is now pretty much done, I've worked on the Ivy a little and the leaves. Leaving me the pumpkin to texture and UV Map, thankfully I already know how to unwrap this how I want.
So what did I learn, complex shapes/models prove very frustrating when it comes to creating a clean UVMap.. Torture!
Anyway feedback very welcome as always. Hope you like what I have thus far and please excuse the bad lighting.
Now time to rest
Mike

Fantastic done, the stem looks really good! Getting a good UV-map is sometimes nearly impossible.
