Description

In a respite from cold weather and rain, the sun emerged fpr a few days. Everyone was content to go on walks or just revel in the warmth. This starling searched the still-wet lawn for a treat. Just after this was taken, he found a a slug. In his search, the sunlight illuminated the feathers on his back wonderfully. Looking at the colors and irridescence, it reminds us that even the smaller, unspectacular creations in Nature are never dull. Thank you for the look. A great "Thanks!" to all of you who have favorited me or my work.

Yes well put Allen.. A lowly Starling, but look closer at the detailing of its plumage.. The colours deep within.. The purples, the deep blacks, the gloss.. The wonders of nature indeed.. Shame we are destroying so much of it.. without even thinking of what will happen when it's gone.. :-( Fine shot, my friend... Stay well.. Rob

Shakespeare once said 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' which means so much as 'Beauty is seen by those who have an open eye for it'. I think he was and still is right.

I love starlings, although my grandmother hated them with a passion. The younger ones like this are so beautiful. I've read that the older ones lose their irridescense from going in and out of their burrows. Beautiful shot!

We call them European Starlings, though there are a lot around here. I think their iridescent colors are gorgeous. This shot shows off their plumage nicely.
