Description

(Bug Comic)(extra item) This is just because I know *somebody* wants to see the "Alien Base in the Hollowed Out Volcano", but sadly, the Azali preferred deep lakes, not volcanoes. Here's one of the big North American bases,(long before Bryan's time), the one near Coeur d'Alene. The other big bases were in Crater Lake and Great Slave Lake). This base was originally a concrete sub bunker from the 21st century, and then the Azali dug it out much deeper, down to about 600 meters, and added on several layers. The latest layer shown here (c. 2260) is starting to look a lot more organic than the previous layers. It's big; the maggoty thing making cables is the size of a bus. (The pies-with-attitude are temporary, I think--I made them as placeholders for the real mines I still need to make, but they look so alien and ridiculous I kind of like them.)

whuff. and here's something i would have sworn was easier to make in 3d. Zbrush to be specific. what was hilarious for me was the experience of scrolling to view it. at first i thought, "oh, we're seeing the base from a distance." then i thought, "oh, it's a collection of structures." then i realized i didn't know what those other things were, but the base was massive. the composition is just brilliant for online viewing. the painting works very well overall. lots of detail, but uniform enough to work as a whole rather than overwhelm the viewer. and unlike the designer of those horrible new Transformers, you kept the general shape clean and striking. the mines are very cool. i definitely like them as is.

Whoa...that's deep! Curious about that maggoty thing and how it makes (?) cables... Fabulous details and I think your Pie Mines are just evil looking enough. Perfect! :o)

Pies with attitude? Were you hungry when you were working on this one? Most excellent scene I have to say. As I was viewing down it just got better and better. Those Azali are as industrious as ants!
