Description

Captured 7/31/10, at the American Civil War Reenactment, held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California. Better viewed full size. Sorry about the blur of the horse and rider in the bottom picture, but he surprised me by riding like a whiz onto the scene, apparently determined to end the battle all by himself, after I had already focused on the phalanx of bluecoats behind him, so my AF lens didn't have a chance to readjust in order to capture him clearly. The shutter speed was set relatively high so it wasn't that. And, because of all the action and my position on the field at the time, most of the shots coming up will be of the Union soldiers, followed then by more pics of the Rebel troops, resulting in better fotos of that side. I couldn't be in two places at once, especially with the crowd barring the way and the distance involved. Tally ho, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all complimentary comments and favs.

Yep. I like the last one the best. What an action shot... intentional or not, you caught it!

Because of the number of participants involved, and detail in the image, my favorite is #2.

All terrific, but my fave is the horse riding into the picture....almost like he is yelling "CHARGE".

I'm curious about these battle reenactments; do they start the whole thing with pre-ordained roles for casualty and survivor? Is it choreographed in any way? How do they know who is supposed to shoot who and when to "die"? Who charges where and when? A thought-provoking series and another excellent installment; I also like the "candid" rider in the last shot!
