the softness of the leaves married to the darknes of the tree trunks and the figures add up to a satifying picture

this helped me get over a photographic hump a few weeks back, and also helped me with a 2D work. It happened with the gorgeous light tones of your leaves, in the trees & the ground. When one goes from color to b&w, and then begins to "tone" it again (or desaturates, but only so far), the choices are so large and can be very difficult. You've known how to tone b&w's beautifully, throughout your output here; and here, you showed me the power of luminous grays & all they can say in a semi-monotonal environment. This is, in fact, vibrant with color, for a toned-down image; the leaves in trees & ground are very alive; and your trunks radiate beautifully in an array of subtle hues. Then, as you often do in such lush nature settings, you have a few humans walking through, small enough to be part of the scene but not the center of it. A big point for the classical Oriental painters: They made looming mountainscapes, with very small humans scattered throughout, and the humans were at peace in the landscape rather than overwhelmed by it. So, your humans walk through this park without any negative sense whatsoever. You've always articulated b&w with great subtlety; and this is a prime example. It freed me after several nights of struggling with some images...I saw it & thought: "Yes! That's it!" I study a lot of 20th & even 19th C. photography, so you're in good company...a beautiful & gentle piece.
