Description
The day had dawned pretty bright and clear, nary a cloud in the sky a good day it seemed to be out on the lake doing what ever business was to be done. But the lake is a fickle Mistress, one who can make your passage easy or turn you on your head and show you what " mom nature " is all about.
It started as a distant haze, and on looking at it, it was traversing north to south and we were eat to west. The winds of change are ungoverned and their own Master and as we held the course the haze altered course, ran with us on a parallel course and at some point merged with us as our course had and would not change as the destination was plotted and laid in and was on a true heading.
The wind picked up, to pitch and roll grew, the yawing increased, but course was held and the steady on a credit to the " wheels man " who held the compass bearing. We took some water over the bows, " taking it green " the voyage being interupted a small amount but not enough to have to alter course and seek shelter or take an alternate route.
The workings of mother nature can be bot awe inspiring or terrifying or both at the same time. She is a fickle Mistress of the water, one to respected and honored at all times and the lake are no place for the weak of heart in rough weather.................thanks for the peek

Well done - narrative and image are impressive. I've seen days just like you describe.

I really thrill to this sight. It is not a crisp and clear as I'd like but the slight blur gives you the feeling of the rolling ship and the crashing waves. Outstanding narrative as well.

Yes you have described it very well. Great shot.

Ive read about aircraft carriers that take green water over the deck when they circle the Southern end of South America. Every time I hear about these sorts of things, I know I wouldn't choose to be there. A ship is just another particle in the water. If the water is harsh and mean, then the ship will be treated as such. There is so much power in the water that it's incomprehensible for us humans to really grip it.
