Description

Bryce7Pro/Photoshop I have always been a fan of the work Ralph MacQuarrie did for the first Star Wars movies, his sense of composition and simplicity of design are a big influence on me even today. This was an attempt to capture the feel of his images. All items created in Bryce...this was a chance to bring together some of my droid models in one scene. All textures are Bryce, except ground which is a Seriously Real Material from Daz.Smoke is a modified volumetric cloud applied to three spheres, fire is a Pro Material texture.Sky,light and atmo are all custom, with the sky used as IBL with sun added.Postwork included a levels and saturation boost, minor touchups to smoke edges, signature and resizing. Thanks for taking the time to view and any comments you wish to leave!

Well, it's good to know the droid gang all survived! heh! Think you capture the "feel" that you were trying for.

Very cool! The seeming simplicity of design proves to be false...that is, the size differences (depth of field), shadows, camera angle...all is really not simplistic and is difficult for an artist to do properly...you pulled it off. This looks very much like "Star Wars" and could almost be a proto-type. Its wonderful when Sci-fi images tell a story....I guess you can see I like it a lot :)

This is fantastic, you nailed that strong simplicity so very well. There's so much story in this, I agree that it all comes through very well. Markal has nailed how much more difficult this kind of thing is than meets the eye, but the impressive thing is that the completed work doesn't look complex. Whoever it was that said the true artist makes the difficult look easy is so correct. You've really got a masterpiece here, DAZ should be using this as a teaching tool in good composition and design, if you ask me!
