Description
Tuweep or Toroweap is an area on the Grand Canyon that very few people take the time to visit. There are desert “roads”, that go out there but it was sand and boulder paths, which my kidneys still remember, and took hours to get out there. The Toroweap overlook, a 3,000 foot vertical rise above the Colorado River. The sheer drop is dramatic and breathtaking. My son Dana II (USAnomad) was the driver and guide for a great day of sun and wonderful views. Taken May 2001 and recently scanned.

When we look that...first thing come to my mind (ice era alomost finish) ☺ 60 000 years ago the grand canyon was full and when continental glacier backup all the water...rush there and now no more continental glacier the grand canyon will die soon ;-) (I mean the colorado river)

The river looks so small and the rock formation is so unbelievable great - I cannot imagine that such a small river can dig such a canyon - but the geologist in me says "Yes, it could.." Outstanding viewpoint, outstanding pic, and the quality is wonderful clear and sharp for a scanned pic!
