I get the feeling of a vacuum being created by the receding water leaving a crisp, clean shine on the sandy beach...just for a few sparse moments before the next wave crashes in to do it all over again. Beautiful early morning light.

Some rather lovely contrasts here, of light and dark, smooth and rough, of chaos and calmness, of moving forward and retreating. CC

Mark, this is such a beautiful capture with the morning sun shining on the wet sand and the glowing waves rolling in. There is something hypnotic over it. And I love it in b/w. Gorgeous.

Mark, this one is an instant classic my friend. The moment it came on the screen it took my breath away as it has a truly dramatic look and feel. The waves dominate this at first glance but then the focus is drawn down to the soft lighting below. Keeping you in my prayers my friend.

I thought I would see on of your golden dawn fotos, but instead there is this beautiful, serene black and white shot. I makes me want to sit in silent meditation, listening to the quiet. Truly a stunning shot!!

The mood you have captured Mark is sublime a classic portrait of braking waves on a lonely shore.. If I had to nit pick the crop to the top waves is too tight. Having them more open would have made it perfect..

You were out very early to get this super capture. I love how the light is catching the wet sand and making it shine and the waves look to be dancing in the dawn with the joy at another day arriving. I hope those tests all go well and that we see you back again soon.

Super stellar deep black and white contrast and variety of lake textures in this magnificent shot, Mark! Sorry to see you leave us, even for a short period.

Oh my. There's that gorgeous hematite glow again. Superb contrast in this b&w piece ... it's glorious! Lke Michigan has no idea how beautiful it is in your hands. It's probably out there developing a complex ... "Erie has a better location, and Superior is so ... well ... so SUPERIOR! If I have to hear it one more time ..." Show this picture to Lake Michigan, would you? You'll save a lot of heartache.

Even though the waves are filled with tremendous energy as they roll into the shore I feel a sense of calmness from this shot. Fabulous capture.

What an amazing shot! I really need to catch up with your gallery, especially since it's always such a pleasure to explore and enjoy and to simply FEEL. This shot is a perfect example of that, it's visually poetic and wonderfully elegant. You've captured the lake in a marvelously sensitive way and you've allowed the lake itself to show you what needs to be seen. The light and contrasts are wonderful as are the textures. I can easily and gladly lose myself in this shot. This is excellent! I'm sending my warmest wishes your way, and sending regards from Corey as well.

OMG. That is beautiful. The way you've captured the shimmering light that clings to the sand is amazing. Maybe it is proving that it is strong enough to remain even as the waves crash upon it. I would print and reprint this if I were you. The color tones are perfect.

that you left a big part of the shor open is a wise move, Mark! the dark object on the right ruins the general pattern and it's good!

It's incredible how you've captured both the restlessness and serenity of the ocean (lake?) in this single shot. I love the monochrome, which adds mystery to the majesty. Gorgeous!
