Description

This was taken at the Botanic Gardens outside Chicago. Life has been very hectic so sorry I fell off the planet. I am slowly getting through all your galleries to comment. Enjoy and thank you for all your kind comments. Hope you are enjoying your week-

Great color Kate. The soft focus adds to the pinkness and feel of the flowers. Has a nice abstract quality.

You have SUCH a good eye! Your images never fail to catch my attention as I'm browsing through the gallery. I love the color and the composition here, but your shallow depth of field is what really makes this for me. Gorgeous!!

HA! You've been offworld too, huh? Gotta watch out for that, they're doing work just left of Alpha Centauri and traffic's backed up all the way to Regulus. Okay, and having said that, I gotta say that I love these pink things. I know next to nothing about flowers, but I know that these are pink and pretty. I love the DOF in this, there's a softening effect that's just stunning...almost like you're laying belly-flat in a carpet of blossoms sprinkled at the feet of someone whose social status requires that they go walking around on flower petals. There's a softness here that's undeniable, and also a real intensity that isn't overwealming. Pink is difficult to capture but you captured it perfectly here: there's no bleeding, no washout glare, no color shifts...that's neat, clean photography and I love it. Yeah, and in case I hadn't mentioned it, cool picture.

Oh, I like this a lot! It has a wonderful dreamy quality to it that is almost hyptnotic. There's a nice amount of depth as well, almost like you could live inside it. Great work!

Lovely composition, color, and light! I like the green stems coming up from the corner, the soft pink, and the angles and points of the petals. They make me think of an old fortune telling game made with paper, with numbers on the outside of points and fortunes on the inside. Beautiful shot!

a beautiful shot of flowers in a row, with focus & yet softness (something I see you do really well, combining focus with softness in a delicate match). I like that the flowers are clear but still mixed in with atmosphere. (You're a painter, right? Well did you study how the renaissance "discovered atmosphere"? I mean, they didn't discover it, it'd been around, lol, but they discovered it in painting, and finally started softening things as they went back in space, getting rid of that harsh all-level focus more common in the Middle Ages. You bow to the natural softening of atmosphere, and I like that a lot. Digital processing, in particular, makes sharpening very easy; I'm glad you allow nature to speak more freely.) Very atmospheric capture and a very painterly surrounding, clear stems, etc, mixing with pure color & form...And another Bot. Garden entry! And btw, the botanist probably has a more complex name than "Pink", but I think that the flower world calls it "Pink". If you asked this flower "what's your name," it would say: "Whaddya ya think---BLACK?" (Flowers are sarcastic.) Beautiful shot.
