Description
Not an actual illustration, but a composited image to show more uniforms. This was the last time I had used dynamic cloth on the Macross uniforms. I was getting closer to where I wanted by using densely triangulated meshes, but it was still hit or miss too often, especially with sitting poses. And the male torso fit is even worse than the female torso fit ever was, and the belt refuses to work with the cloth simulation… so it’s time to explore hybrid conforming-dynamic clothing.
Shown here is also the final female member of Fire Snakes, Chloe MacFayden. I added portraits of her because in uniform, her skin is oddly lit and shader-ed. Jerrid Viktorovich Christianov models the male uniform for the first time. Still working on the pants texture and his hair texture. Probably will be blonde-tipped instead of naturally anime-blonde to the roots.
*edit: Pants and boots are conforming, by Uzilite/Wusamah, textures and morphs by me. I have no intention of attempting dynamic pants!

Great characters, nice work!!!

first of all, i love these characters. the ones from the preceding image are good, but these two are great. they're very realistic and (more importantly) have lots of personality. Jerrid's hair is really impressive, though i think you're right that it will look better with a dark base. i think the outfits look great, but again, i totally understand how dynamics can thwart you. especially with uniforms and things like this. i have no experience with uniforms in real life, but i'm thinking kind of suit-like material? no matter what the cut, material that drapes well and doesn't usually wrinkle where flat but bends easily when it has to isn't easy to simulate in any app i've tried so far. and belts have to be in just the right place or they keep you from sitting. that all said, i'm really interested in seeing the problems you've encountered for myself, so i might test out my own version of the outfit. oh, and the pants are absolutely great so far. did you make the boots, too?

Nice to know I'm not alone! From the images I've researched, uniforms like this are like suit jackets that are snug on the torso but somewhat loose on the sleeves. For grins, I might post some Chloe mishaps to show you what happened in other simulations. Should have mentioned that the pants are conforming, both made by Uzilite/Wusamah, with morphs and textures by me.
