Stellar contrast and detail in this pic of the survival of the fittest, Lucinda. With that title I was expecting to see a Pit Bull with its jaws tightly clamped around the limb of some unfortunate soul.

I love the title. It fits perfectly. Superb capture showing us how stubborn and creative living things are when it comes to survival.

Very nice photo Lucinda, and the title fits it so well. This of course makes me wonder what was on your mind at the time of the capture, or maybe the better question is even now ;)Maybe this is a time when you need to feel this way as life is swirling all around you.

Yup, that's tenacity all right, also known as too stubborn to die, not gonna be compost, and what's the fuss about all this death business anyway!

a really fine capture of a stump giving birth to a multiplicity of branches & leaves. And of the greenery around it. Finely captured & seen. And another shot of Oakland Lake. (When I get back to NY one day, I'll have to see this place. The funny thing is in shots like these, sometimes the shots make the areas look huge; but then when you're there, they're suddenly small. May not be the case here, but it's one of the 'magics' of photography.) In any case, a delightful shot & overgrown...and very springy (nice counterpoint to the end of November). I know I"ve skipped images from further back as well as recent, but I have to move on; there are still people I haven't seen yet (including at the beginning of the alphabet---yep, I even skip some of those!). But I'll be back. A real pleasure being here again. Hope your thanksgiving was splendid, Lucinda!!!
