Description

Cute (if you fancy spiders) and slow (as tarantulas generally are), they can make good pets. They won't bark all night or yowl at strange cats. On the other hand, they don't have any tail to wag and do not purr. They do not take too well to discipline, either. Let me tell you the true story of Terry the Tarantula. A guy decides to let his girlfriend move in. She feels all creepy around his pet, Terry. As she saw it, Terry was the only impediment to marriage and bliss...and a very big one at that. So, one day, when the boyfriend was away at work, she put Terry (cage and all) into the deep freeze. Four hours later, a very frozen spider in his cage was set in the sun to thaw. The guy comes home, and wouldn't you know it?, Terry is unresponsive to his dinner (a live cricket). Eventually, having decided Terry died a natural death, he gave in and did not buy another spider. Marriage and contentment followed. Ignorance is indeed bliss. Thank you for stopping by, and for any comment you should make. A big Thanks to all of you who have favorited me or one of my submissions. I'd like to thank No limit Exotic Pets and Rescue of Portland, Oregon for letting me take the photo of this little guy!

The little one is indeed cute!!!! I simply LOVE spiders, but many people don't understand that.... I hope that this story isn't really true, isn't it? Because it's really creepy and if I would know of a person who killed an animal like that I would put her/him right in my garden and there are -8° Celsius at the moment! Should be enough to freeze to death, too! Unbelievable..... Anyway, your artwork is wonderful and I thank you for sharing it with us! ~Sassy~

Awwww.... What a cute little face! If someone I was going out with ever did something like that to any living thing, we wouldn't be a couple period.

That is cruel! I don't fancy spiders at all but I have nothing against them as long as they are nowhere near me! I wouldn't do that to any creature! Very nice photo that's exactly how I like to view spiders, in photos!

well I admit I get creeped out by spiders too but I have learned over the years to not be as scared, I figure they run from me as well so I must be just as scary to them haha. And I would never pull a stunt like the girlfriend did, I agree that is pretty cruel. Great photo thanks for sharing.

I assure you all, the story is true! When we used to live on several acres in the southwest USA, we'd have all kinds of visitors in our yard, driveway and sometimes in the house. I tried never to injure tarantulas or snakes. My wife drew the line on centipedes, scorpions & Black Widows in and around the home, and I can't blame her. We raised three children to be aware (and respectful) of their environment and the critters in it. Thank you alot for your comments.

My mate here has them as pets, and he says the pink toes are actually one of the faster varieties. And another tip is to get a girl as they live heaps longer!!!!! I don't go near any of them, regardless of what colour their feet are!!!

Well - if I were a male type person, I'd toss the girl and keep the spider! They don't lie, stick bipedals in freezers and are altogether far more beautiful to look at! Hair, pink feet and all. This is a fabulous shot of an amazing creature which has walked this planet a lot longer than we have and hopefully will walk it a long time after we have gone! ^=^
