Description

I was on my way to admire the snowy views from our local high ground when I unfortunately came across a big 'Road Closed' sign.... pfffff, I'm not having that! On I struggled in my little Golf, wheelspinning for a half mile before deciding maybe it wasn't wise to get stranded on a hillside after dark in sub-zero conditions and with no supplies! I did however manage to get far enough along the road to make it to this particular local go-to spot of mine just in time for sundown. Same location as this shot made back in spring. Might just be a candidate for a seasonscape some day :) One other angle (sans fence) to come from this shoot...

thanks all... okay technicals... ISO 100, f/16, 10mm, manual blend of 3 exposures in photoshop using layer masks - 1 exposure for the foreground with my finger over the sun to block out flare, one for the sky, and one localised exposure for the sun... shutterspeed is irrelevant in this instance :)

Absolutely gorgeous..well done! Yes the goal is to capture what the human eye would see at that moment...and to creatively get beyond the equipment's limitations by layering. Awesome work!

Fantastic if rather bleak winterscape. Fits well with the idea of being stranded. Somehow the fence adds to the atmosphere. Thanks for the technical data.
