Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

It all starts with appreciating your own work. Are you happy with the photo you took. And you obviously are so that's good. A happy, tender, loving Christmas to you as well Kate.

The sky in Florida seems so much bigger: maybe that's because they're more open down there--at least geographically. Chicago is so cramped and crowded: you can't look anywhere without seeing a building, and heck, even if you're looking out at Lake Michigan (where the sky DOES get big) you can see Indiana, if it's a clear enough day. Anyway, enough of that! I love this photo. It's most definitely warm, and I love the vibe of it. The silhouettes are marvelous, the colors are incredible: warm and relaxing. The little shadow-tableau of the three figures (mom, dad, and child?) really adds a special human quality to this image. The two people sitting on beach chairs does the same thing; they're small figures and we don't know their identities, but they're such a presence here and they add so much to this shot. It's well seen, well composed, and perfectly captured. Nice. Very, very nice.

The sunset is gorgeous, and the composition is excellent. Great division of space! Sunsets here are pretty much a non event. Mostly it just gets dark.

Beautiful catch Kate and a Merry Christmas to you too!

As you say Kate sunsets are always beautiful especially over the sea and this one is too. Have a great Christmas. Jeff.

Great work, never managed to get close to as good a shot as this myself.

Love sunrises and sunsets and this one is a beauty. We live on the east coast of Florida thus we only see sunsets through the trees. But the sunrises are gorgeous. Dana

a fine & peaceful sunset, Kate, I agree with tara about the division of space. Nice desolation, with family/loved ones along the horizon. And nice that you left the beach in deep shadow: It makes the shot 3 distinct areas, which is what late sunsets over water do to the world...You must be on the west coast here to see a sunset against the ocean (I assume that's the ocean!). Very peaceful image & a nice holiday image too...peaceful & inward. The right tone. Hope your holiday was nice too, you & all those you shared it with!
