Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

Nice self-portrait. Reflective surfaces surely add a lot of possibilities. Merry Christmas to you and your familiy as well!

THIS IS GREAT!! I've been fascinated by reflection shots since i first picked up a camera! I like this a lot, and the b/w adds to make a great shot even better!

I love reflection shots too. This one is excellent with all the different textures and dings to warp the reflection. I like the stripes and how they resemble tree rings altered by knots. Great in B&W! Happy Holidays!

Reflection shots are always such a fun thing. There's always the possibility of seeing something in Mirrorworld (the OTHER mirrorworld and not England) that isn't in THIS world. I love your choice of black and white and I love the dimples in whatever that surface is you're photographing. I think that black and white works best with this because there are details that come through a lot more sharply without color. Nice camera you've got too! It's snazzy. I'm also thinking of tree rings altered by knots, the kind you sometimes see on cottonwood trees because they love to get all knotty and gnarly and kind of ugly, if you like tall, straight trees. I also love the way the reflective surface reminds me of water or mercury rather than something solid, like a funhouse mirror. In short, there's a lot to like in this picture, and like you, I'm fascinated by reflections, especially in water puddles or river-faces. This is marvelous. I love it. It's a nice self portrait too, the kind that has a bit of excitement going on...good stuff. Really good stuff. I'm seeing this on Christmas Eve night, at Corey's. The music to Inception is playing and well, that adds a different mood to everything, around this picture. I have no idea why I brought that up, but there you have it. Merry Christmas to you too!

Super capture! I'm totally fascinated by reflections, and take every opportunity to get just one more! I love this one. It looks like you've got a long pole in your hand ... VERY fun! :D Congrats on learning Photoshop ... it's addictive ... but you probably already know that!

I don't know much about camera brands, but I think the Rebel 35mm is a film camera, right? So you had to scan it and convert it to a digital image? Well whatever you did, this is a wonderful reflection shot. When we look closer, esp full size (I always look full size), we see you're not looking in a normal glass pane: This could be metal---really looks like metal---or glass that's been punctuated by bolts & such. It really looks like metal, and it has stains & scratches, and is framed by some kind of old ornery metal framing. Fascinating! We don't know what it is, but it's wonderfully captured & in something that leaves us wondering---as good reflection shots should. (Yes, tara does refl shots all the time. I'm beginning to too, maybe I'll post a few soon. Tara's one of the masters at refl shots.) A wonderful reflection shot, filled with strong detail and ambiguity (side by side), and you, all crouched over like a real photographer taking the shot. The b&w was a fine choice, btw: The shot has a film feel, and since film started out b&w, it's fitting here. And you let the ambiguity of the metal stay, you didn't erase it with sharpening etc. Really good choices, and image too.

Really interesting and fascinating shot! Love it. ^=^

Well done. My silly thing is trying for warped images of buildings in the reflections of others!
