Hi everywhere! When we Christs have our Christmas fiesta, the Jews have their Chanukka (exactly some days later, I believe). And as we have the Christmas market, they have the "Chanukka Market", as we can see here. The building in the background is the Jewish Museum (the old part of it), but is was in its origin a courthouse. It was built somewhere around 1745 by the preussian king Friedrich Wilhelm I. and was situated directly at the fields in these days. The judges and their servants and housemaids had to settle down here by order of the king, but they were not amused about to living 1 mile from the old residential Berlin among bare fields..... So they tried to find 1001 reasons not to settle here...... From the king they tell us an old story of an order till today: "Das Schwein muss bauen!" ("These pig must build!") The house survived the world war II, which damaged the surrounding nearly complete. As a courtyard it is to small meanwhile, so it got part of the Jewish Museum some years ago.
