Skylight in B&W - Pardon the gunk that is showing up on this one. I have a great recommendation from Katraz (Alan) for a new scanner which I hope will help :) I am off work starting tomorrow so I can catch up on checking out and commenting on the new photos folks have uploaded. I'm a bit behind! Thank you as always for your comments and favorites.

Wow...this is spectacular. A quick bit of cloning or spot healing (Photoshop tools) will clean this right up and you can keep right on using your old scanner if need be:)

I love this! Wonderful geometric shapes of the structure and the light. I love the sharp edges of the light and the way it angles off in various directions. Excellent eye and capture! I've been scanning and cleaning old images, and photoshop's (elements 7 in my case) "Touch Up Scratches, Blemishes, or Tear Marks" works great.

This is fantastic...and I have a weakness for windows and other sorts of portals in unexpected places, even if skylights are in all of the expected places (generally overhead.) I love the geometry of this shot and the whole off-kilter feel of it; that feeling is actually what you do get when you're looking up at a skylight but you're not directly under it. The horizon line changes and everything has to be reevaluated, if only for a second. What's life without reevaluations from time to time? It's funny but I didn't actually notice any gunk, but then I'm the sort of person who loves camera and scanner artifacts, and so nothing detracted from this shot for me. It's stunning; incredibly well seen and as always, well presented. In terms of getting rid of unwanted artifacts, you can easily clone them out with photoshop, or blend them in, as the case may be for some of the most subtle ones. It's fairly easy to do, and it's cheaper than a new scanner, unless of course a new scanner is what you want...and hey, scanners = toys in The Book of Chip and so I'd whole-heartedly stand behind the decision to get one...but playing around with clone brushes and such in Photoshop is also fun, according to The Book of Chip, and ultimately...cheaper. At any rate, this is a marvelous shot in and of itself, and so the extra ingredients added by a scanner don't detract from it at all. Oh yeah, I love the angles in this and the contrasts. This is quite a marvelous piece of work! Nice, very nice, indeed.

This reminds me of a shot down with a pin hole, or a Holga! It's great. I can't remember ever seeing a shot quite like it.
