Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

Happy New Year, Kača. Funny how it's so easy to type your name in Czech...of course that could have something to do with having had a chat with Kača over in Prague today. She's doing good, if a bit less than sober. Anyway, I love this picture, and I love the fact that you've branched out into 2D with so great a watercolor. I love the texture of watercolors in general, the way the paper always looks so tissue-thin, even if it's not, and the colors are always vaguely translucent, as if everything is slightly different than "reality" would have us believe. I love the bold tree trunks and the softer shapes and colors dancing around in the background. This makes an excellent "Closing Image" for the old year, and promises a bit of watercolor excitement for the New Year. YAY! I really like your color range too: you stick to what's natural, but you interpret it in totally "Kate ways" which is the stamp of an actual bona-fide artist with prospects. Nice, very nice! This is so dreamy in a way too. I saw some of your acrylic work (please post some of it too!) and it has that same sort of "floating world" quality. The floating world is pretty big in Japanese art, and that's an aspect of why that particular style appeals to me so much. This has that same quality...it's realistic with a little something extra, and you actually have to engage with the artwork itself in order to really see all that it offers. I hope you do more of this stuff! LOTS more. Your photography is amazing and just as engaging as this, so do some more of that too...in short, just do it all! Happy New Year to you and I look forward to all sorts of new cool stuff in 2011. Oh yeah, and your watercolors rock. Actually they're rather steady, but you know what I mean.
