Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

Great capture! I love the action, the composition (nice diagonal from ball to girl to boy in yellow and then off to the other two kids), the colors, the light and shadows. Well done all around!

This is an action shot if ever there was one! Airborne kids...what's more natural or amusing than that. I'm not one of those people who gets all mushy and sentimental about kids, but there's something about them that I really enjoy: a kind of guileless quality that's raw and untamed, but also incredibly cute. Animals have that, an ability to live in the here and the now, without regard to all of the things that make grownups so neurotic. You captured that purity in this shot and I love it. That green ball is positively riveting, and I agree that it starts a great diagonal line that really combines every element of this picture. That green ball also reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on...something I read in a hauku maybe, and it recalls, in a more overt way, the name of a chapter in Ursula K. LeGuin novel I read not too long ago. The Other Wind...the first chapter of which was entitled "Mending the Green Pitcher." The only connection is color, but I really like the way green in this, and green in that seem to fit together so well...maybe because of some kind of odd connection in my own mind, maybe because children playing and pitchers getting mended are such simple things, and when you stop and think about it, life is nothing but a collection of simple things. And some of them are green. Yeah, that must be it...or something. At any rate, this is a first rate photo, and it's so incredibly fun to look at. I wonder where those kids are now, how much older they are, and whether or not they know how important a suspended green ball might be. Great stuff...and now, I'm gonna shut up.

Kate, if you ever believed that you have no artistic talents, then it is time to forget it! This here is a REAL snapshot, directly from the middle of life! The finest things are mostly the small ones - things that the most of us do not notice.... This here is such a picture: Nothing is arranged, is happens just in this moment, and the result is great! They are without sorrows in this moment, could it get a better moment? Your gallery has some of these jewels, and I will have an eye at it soon and comments. Go on in this way, you are right!

nice actionshot !

Excellent shot! Wonderful capture of children absorbed in play. How wonderfully limber they are, with feet making all sorts of angles with their legs. I love the dance of motion seen in the interaction of the children with each other and with the ball. The stretched arms, and airborne feet. The jacket still raised from the force of motion. Superb capture! I like this a lot!
