Description

High water in january is quite common in the Netherlands. This year the water rose somewhat more. In the beginning of January a lot of snow melted and it rained heavily resulting in villages along the rivers being flooded. The picture shows the little town of Schoonhoven (NL), about 10 miles southeast of Gouda. The ferry has just landed and approaches the city very closely. The water has put a little debris on the street showing it rose recently even higher.

A beautiful and exposing capture of our changing world, Onno. It's sometimes scary to think what kind of things are happening in different places now...things that never used to occur. A wonderful capture of the scene however, with superb lighting and just enough detail to leave one thinking. Lovely, and powerful artwork!
