Description

A sign on the seat of this car said '1953 Jaguar'. No further information was provided. According to Wikipedia these cars were built between 1936-1940 by SS Cars Ltd. of Coventry, England and badged Jaguar. There is currently one place in England that builds replicas using genuine Jaguar parts and there are also kits available. I didn't see anyone around to ask. Picture was taken on 22January 2011. Thanks for viewing and commenting, Sig...

That didn't make any sense to me either. The last one was shipped in 1940-41. (Did you know they changed their name from SS to Jaguar after WWII? Fascinating!) Anyway ... this seems to be a kit car. Did they do kits in 1953? If so, perhaps it's a kit replica that was built in 1953. That seems odd to me, since in 1953 the car would have only been 12 to 15 years discontinued, but hey ... lots of stuff about cars sort of passes me by! LOL! Anyway. I notice the steering wheel is on "our" side of the car, and the grill is flat, where the other ones I was able to find had a more V-shaped grill. Just an interesting little detail of the sort you love! :P Did I mention the photograph? Great job! The angle at which you shot this made it easy to research!
