Description

A simple portrait of Rose Tyler from Doctor Who (her first season longer haired self to be precise). I was thinking of adding a background since the photo that I used for reference didn't have one, but decided that it really didn't need one. Decided to leave the drawing non-burnished on this one, because I liked the look of the paper showing through a bit, as opposed to the usual burnishing technique that I use with colored pencils. Done with a combination of Derwent, Spectracolor and Prismacolor pencils on Canson Mi-teintes 98lb paper. Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

Absolutely spot on, mate! You captured the attitude and expression perfectly. Amazing how - even when using a reference - how many people miss the essentials. You didn't. I like the textured look, too. Gives the image more "feel", if you get my drift.

I haven't seen Doctor Who nor do I know Rose Tyler, but I like her hair :o) - honestly! The rough look is what really makes this a sight for sore eyes - I guess that's what you meant about not burnishing it, right? And I agree that the portrait doesn't need a background - the lady is the attraction, period. I'd so love to see more of your drawings as they're always so outstanding from all the other stuff here, but I guess real life interferes more than we all like it to. Lots of hugs, ~Sassy~
