Description

When I saw Wolfhound Jack's 21-B droid, I had to use it ASAP. Hence, this dramatic little scene. This surgical droid is designated 2-1B-A5, & is called Dr. Tobias. Tobias & Jedi Healer Dantris Solomani--whom we last saw in a futuristic pediatrics ward--are working on a critically injured non-human patient. How critical? Master Dani is using the Force to heal the patient, enough so that Tobias can finish the job with his med-surg programming. Dani, who spent more time studying medicine than sparring with his lightsaber, is quite adept at mixing Force-healing with medical technology. He and Tobias make a great medical team, and the droid is fond of this organic colleague. Incidentally, the draped "OR table" looks like it's floating because it is --repulsor (aka anti-grav) technology is so handy. My mentor, Spacer_01, should be proud of me. First, I did a lot of color tweaking in the Materials Room in Daz3A: the patient's body; Dantris' "surgical gloves" (M3's hands material zone) & overtunic (M3 tunic material zone); and the surgical drapes. And I used a distant light plus a spotlight for the OR lamp; Spacer_01 has been encouraging me to use them. He also convinced me to give the Generation 2 Daz models a try, So Michael 2 became Tobias & Dantris' patient. The need for a sickly skin texture resulted in me going on a "shopping spree" for free M2 & V2 skin textures. While I certainly need a background, there are a few other things I want to improve. I really don't like how satiny the drapes look, but I have no idea how to fix it. And I need a decent texture for the cap & mask; the set appears to have just a bump map or texture template. Models: Michael 2 Lo-res & Michael 3 (Daz) M3 Tunic, Boots, & Pants (Daz) Vadlor's M3 Galactic Guardian Set (Rendo freebie) Elric head texture from Dragonlord M2 (Runtime DNA freebie) 21-B Droid (Wolfhound Jack, Rendo) Sheets (Operating room freebie set. Daz?) Surgical cap & mask for Dude/Posette (Appleyard. Share CG?)

Looking good sofar! Will be looking forward to seeing the progress you make on it. That med bay suit you picked up some time ago might work good here :)

Wow, you have learned quite a bit! It looks fantastic so far and the story is quite inventive and fun. I'm sure your gurney is far superior to current technology where they bump the patients around and into walls etc. :). The cloth looks really nice and natural. Excellent work!!!

I'm glad you like it so far, psyoshida. It's coming along with a tentative background and Spacer_01 has been giving me a lot of help with the lighting and tweaking the glossiness in that one drape. It's done little for the look of the drape so far--but quite a lot for my understanding of how to use lights & what all those Parameter boxes & sliders are for! Spacer also explained how to fix the cap & mask & supplied a fabric I could use for the bump channel. And yes, the drapes are surprisingly good. They are from an old Daz freebie, I confirmed it. Along with that old cap/mask set & the M2 patient, this is becoming quite an illustration of how Oldies really can be Golden in modeling.
