Description

...my exclamation upon looking into the twin tailpipes of the only civilianized MiG-29 flying in the USA today. ...its' 1400 gallons of fuel is good for about a two hour flight or eight minutes on afterburner!!! ...this aircraft was purchased from the Ukrainian government in 2006 by a private foundation and has been in complete restoration at Arlington, Washington between 2008 and January 2011. It is now undergoing a five hour test flight program for its' airworthiness certificate and will become a permanent part of a yet unnamed flight collection in the near future. Bill P.S. Speed? Yes - holy smoke is what comes out of those two openings. Wouldn't want to be in your location when those two light up! Very interesting and unusual shot, showing the insides. The purple suggests burnt metal. I remember reading about the sale of this plane - was a bit controversial. Keep up the good work! Would like to see more of this plane. :-)

Now this is another example of 'my kinda shot'! I remember Rob mentioning that it's a good sign to see the drip trays cos the thing in question is still in use. It's great to hear it's been completely restored. I've never seen one in real life. Oh and yes the roar of jet engines is amazing isn't it. I expected it when I was up close, but I couldn't believe it when the F-16 went to the moon 'miles' away from where I was standing and it still deafened me!!!!!!

Great POV, DOF and lighting effects in this shot of what I thought at first were binoculars, and then a SR-71 Blackbird, Bill. Good thing they didn't turn on the afterburners while you were composing the image.

An F-16 pilots dream view, though perhaps not quite so close. You've really conveyed the size here, it does appear to be 2 engines and a cockpit, I just can't get over how thin the center section 'appears' to be.This ones a keeper...INSTAFAVE!!

This is one seriously afterburning POV on this beauty, Bill! Amazing capture! Not so long ago, you'd not see this sight - a MIG in an American hangar! Superb shot, my friend!

What a superb pov! It must be impossible to stand there and not feel the power of the thing, even when it's just sitting there! I can't believe I walked around the front of that plane and never once looked at the back. Guess we'll just have to go back! An excellent image.
