I am an environmental scientist. A large part of my career has been dedicated to scientific research into the structure of ecosystems and factors that affect them. Quite early on, it became apparent that certain mathematical iterative principles formed geometries that coincided exactly with those found in natural ecosystems. And by ecosystems, I do not mean just plants and animals. The same principles also apply to quantum physics, geology, meteorology and on up to the formation of galaxies. These relationships were championed most publicly by the brilliant mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot, the founder of fractal geometry.
To my mind, the structure of natural ecosystems through application of these iterative processes revealed not only the genius and subtlety of nature but also its incomparable beauty. Â

Wow!! What a special treat you had indeed! We saw a programme on t.v. not so long ago about the dark sea creatures and how they must create thier own light.Your fractal is a gorgeous display. Thanks for sharing your experiences,Stan.

Excellent UF work (as always) Stan. This is an excellent depiction of how they look. I have seen several articles in National Geographic showing images simular to this. I envy you having had the chance to see this in person. I know both Glenda and myself as well as several others on this site feel blessed to benefit from your knowledge on such topics.

A beautiful fractal. How amazing to go down so far under the sea to witness these amazing creatures. They seem to be finding more and more varieties right down in the darkness. Lovely flowing lines here.

Wonderful to see their attraction and their speed (velocity). Following this beautiful image, I can just imagine what you are describing about what miracle happens there, where nobody can see something (or perhaps has no idea about this 'embrace'). Great shown here by you, Stan.
